1. Uninstall the keyboard driver. 2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver). 3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own. Once back in, with the external keyboard still attached, shut down the computer again, detach the external keyboard and try starting it up without it.

HI GUYS, So recently my swift 3's keyboard's backlight stopped working out of a sudden and I started panicking and turns out all you gotta do is press the F8 button and it'll turn on again! Decided to take the back off and at the very least unplug the keyboard ribbon cable whilst taking the opportunity to replace the thermal paste for the cpu and clean the dust out. Put it back together and used a usb keyboard and now is working like it should. I am convinced the keyboard is faulty. Doing the power drain and bios defaults will really help. Kindly follow the steps given below: Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down. On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a pin hole. Try to boot the laptop without the battery installed, using only AC power. If the keyboard only works when the battery is removed, you may need your battery replaced.

If this is due to carbon, then you can open the keyboard and clean it with dry cloth and most probably it will start working again. Followed the video you recommended to overcome code 19. The HID drivers (2) now show they are working correctly. However no keyboard function at present. The video searched for a ps2 driver updated it and all was well. I do not have a ps2 driver so what next please. I also have to use a ps2 mouse as the touch pad has stopped when the keyboard
